FNB to Receive Award

First National Bank to Receive Award for Improving Financial Literacy 

Beloit, WI - August 3, 2009 - First National Bank and Trust Company will receive the 2008-2009 Personal Economics Program (PEP) Award at the Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA) Consumer Education Conference which will be held on September 10, 2009.   

First National Bank and Trust Company continues to improve financial literacy among children, teens and adults through the PEP Program. Started in 1989, the program involves hundreds of bankers who volunteer their time to give consumer education presentations in their communities.  In the last year, hundreds of Wisconsin bank volunteers taught thousands of people of all ages about the basics of money management through the nationally recognized program.   

During the 2008-09 school year, 25 First National Bank employees gave more than 40 presentations at elementary schools, middle schools, senior citizen groups, church groups, libraries, and in-branch tours. These presentations reached more than 1600 people.
